Video reveals how Russian mercenaries recruit detainees for war in Ukraine

In a video released on Tuesday, the de facto leader of a Russian mercenary group known as the Wagner Group is seen promising the release of convicts in exchange for a six-month combat tour in Russia’s war on the ‘Ukraine.

The man in the footage appears to be Yevgeny Prigozhin, a Russian businessman and close associate of President Vladimir Putin who is rarely seen in public, let alone touts his ties to the group so explicitly.
