Aerial alarms sounded across most of Ukraine on Tuesday: Zelenskyy

An airborne alert sounded across much of Ukraine on Tuesday evening, Zelenskyy said, as he called again for a modern, up-to-date anti-missile system.

“Before that, there had been no air alerts in the capital and in some areas for some time, and some people even felt particularly anxious because of such unusual silence. They were overthinking, dreading, looking for some kind of explanation – as if the occupiers were preparing for something…,” he said in his nightly speech.

“You should not look for logic in the actions of terrorists. The Russian army takes no breaks. He has a job – to take people’s lives, to intimidate people – so even a few days without an airborne alarm already seem like part of the terror. And tonight Kyiv and again almost all of Ukraine heard the air alarm,” he added.

Zelenskyy said there were strikes in the Khmelnytskyi region in western Ukraine, the central Dnipropetrovsk region, the border region of Sumy and the Black Sea port city of Mykolaiv and its region. “Some of the missiles were shot down by our air defense forces. And we have not and will not reduce our diplomatic activity for a single day to obtain modern anti-missile systems for Ukraine in sufficient quantity.

Russians move to Donetsk in Ukraine: Governor

Russian troops are engaged in heavy fighting and are entering Ukraine’s Donetsk region after taking control of the last two towns from nearby Luhansk, the regional governor of Luhansk has said.

Serhiy Haidai said Russian troops had suffered heavy losses in the long process of capturing the twin cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk, but were channeling their efforts to move south.

“Heavy fighting is taking place on the outskirts of the Lugansk region… All Russian army and reserve forces have been redirected there… They are suffering heavy losses,” Haidai told Ukrainian television.

“A large amount of material is sent to the Donetsk region. Of course, after the Luhansk region, Donetsk tops the list.

Ukraine is a “terrorist state”, according to the speaker of the Russian Parliament

The speaker of Russia’s lower house of parliament told members during a plenary session that Ukraine had become a “terrorist state”, according to comments posted on the State Duma’s website.

Vyacheslav Volodin is said to have said that Zelensky was at the head of a “criminal regime”.

Since the start of Moscow’s “special military operation” in Ukraine, Russian officials have sought to portray their neighbor as being controlled by anti-Russian fascists and “neo-Nazis”, but have not pushed the idea that it was a terrorist state.

Ukraine and the West say this claim is baseless propaganda used to justify land grabbing.

Two dead, seven injured in Sloviansk on Tuesday: officials

At least two people were killed and seven injured after Russian forces struck a market and residential area in Sloviansk on Tuesday, local officials said.

A Reuters reporter at the scene saw yellow smoke billowing from a car supply store and flames engulfing rows of market stalls as firefighters tried to put out the blaze.

It was not immediately clear what ammunition was used in the attack on the frontline town in the Donetsk region, or how many people were at the market when it was hit.

“The Russians are again deliberately targeting areas where civilians gather,” Donetsk regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko wrote in a Facebook post that detailed the toll of Tuesday’s strikes. “It’s pure terrorism.”
