Russia claims Ukraine is using Tochka U missiles to target residential areas in Kherson

Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry has accused Ukrainian President Zelensky’s forces of launching ballistic missiles at residential areas in Kherson. According to Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, Ukrainian troops used Tochka-U missiles and high-powered multiple rocket launchers to target kindergartens, schools and other social institutions in the central part of Kherson. He said the attack was carried out around 11 p.m. on April 27. However, he added that Russian air defenses thwarted the massive attack.

“The targets of the indiscriminate missile strike by the nationalists were residential areas in the area of Ushakov Avenue, where there are also kindergartens, schools and many social institutions. Russian air defense units have repelled the missile attack of Ukrainian troops on residential areas of Kherson,” Konashenkov said.

The Russian defense spokesman claimed that the Russian anti-missile system encountered at least 12 high-powered multiple rocket launchers and two Ukrainian Tochka-U ballistic missiles. He said the remains of one of the downed Ukrainian Tochka-U missiles landed in Shevchenko Park. Notably, Kherson, located about 650 kilometers from the national capital, Kyiv, was the first city to come under brutal attack by Russian forces.

Currently, several areas of Kherson are held and administered by Russian forces, said Kryvyi Rih military administration chief Oleksandr Vilkul. Ukrinform. Although on April 12 the Ukrainian army claimed to have liberated more than 15 settlements from Russian troops, much of the region is still under the control of Russian forces.

Meanwhile, the spokesman claimed that the main target of Ukrainian forces was the city hospital where a Russian medical detachment is stationed. According to him, the hospital also provides medical facilities to the population of Kharkiv region.

Russia accuses Ukraine of being behind multiple explosions in Moldovan Transnistria

Earlier Thursday, multiple explosions rocked Transnistria, an unrecognized breakaway state that is internationally recognized as part of Moldova. According to a report from BBCseparatist authorities blamed the explosions on Ukrainian troops, a charge Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied on Wednesday.

According to Zelenskyy, Russian infiltrators were bombarding the area with deadly weapons, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians. However, the Russian official expressed serious concerns over the recent explosion and said more than 1,500 Russian troops were still there in Transnistria. Furthermore, officials claimed that Russian speakers in Moldova were oppressed.

Meanwhile, the Transnistria official claimed that “infiltrators” from Ukraine had attacked the security headquarters – a claim that has not been acknowledged or denied by any Ukrainian official. However, while addressing the nation on Wednesday night, Zelenskyy said, “Russia wants to destabilize the situation in the region. But we understand their capabilities, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are ready for this and are not afraid of them.
